Allegiant movie review

SPOILER ALERT

I really wanted to love this movie, but it was downright disappointing. If you havent read the books, im sure you will enjoy this movie more. The director basically changed the whole storyline. I expected changes, but not this much. They took away many scenes from the book and added many others that were not. Im glad he will not be directing the final movie "Ascendant".

"Allegiant" has good action sequences, most of which did not happen in the book. For example, the scene where they left the city and were being chased by Edgar, the scene where Tobias was in the aircraft and assumed he was heading back to the city, the scene where Tobias was being trained by Nita etc. One big action sequence they could have left in the movie, was the one where Nita tried breaking in to get something and Uriah got severely injured.

There were lots of humor throughout thanks to what they added to Peter's character. (Peter was not meant to be the 'funny guy' in the book) They could have left in scenes like Zeke and Tobias breaking Caleb out of prison. Tobias and Zeke had some interesting dialogue in that scene. (in the book) Also the exchange between Tobias and Peter.

I feel that in the movie, his (Tobias) character was really boring. Characters like Matthew and Nita were extremely different from the books. In the movie, Matthew is this secretary type character and Nita became a "soldier". Peter also turned good in the book, not helping David as shown in the movie. The director also changed the verdict for Marcus, Marcus was supposed to be banished, not get his memories erased. The whole GD and GP situation was also not as secretive as they portrayed it in the movie.

The movie also exaggerated lots of things. They pushed 'futuristic' too far and some things were a little weird, like the protective bubble thing and the liquid that Tris was suffocated by in the shower. In the book, the bureau was not that futuristic and they didn't use aircraft that often. Wish they kept the water and stone sculpture too. I found it interesting that when Tris was wearing the white dress with heels, she reminded me of Jeanine.

Overall, I would rate this movie 6/10. For goodness sakes, if you are making a movie based on a book, FOLLOW THE BOOK!

Glass Teapot with Infuser from Teasenz

Not long ago, Teasenz hosted a giveaway on their website and I was chosen as the winner! The prize for the giveaway is this gorgeous glass teapot with an infuser!

I sent my information over on 4 March 2016 and received the item today, 21 March 2016. A little over two weeks, which was what they told me in the beginning too! If im not wrong, they shipped it from China, so the time taken is as expected.

The GLASS teapot came properly protected. First, wrapped in a foam sheet, then covered in bubble wrap and placed in a cardboard box.
Click on the photos below if you want a clearer look. (it will show a larger version)

Gorgeous teapot! The handle looks a bit thin though. Hope it can support the weight of a full pot. First thoughts were that the glass looked/felt thin and fragile. (I know glass is 'supposed' to be fragile', but still.. it depends on the thickness)

Approximately 7.5 inches long.

From the left: cover/lid, diffuser, teapot.

The holes in the diffuser. I actually didn't notice the holes at first, I thought it was just markings in the glass. On closer look at the holes, the glass surrounding the holes makes it seem like I might find shards of glass in my tea. Thankfully there were none!

Decided to make some tea! This Zesta Nuwara Eliya Tea was given to me by my friend from Sri Lanka :D As you can tell, the box came apart >.<

This teapot is enough for two full mugs of tea (or any other drink you put in it.) Take note that the mug i used in the photo is shorter than a regular mug. Since the spout of the teapot is quite low, you can't fill up the teapot to its brim.

Love this teapot! However I will definitely make sure to be extra careful while handling it (especially when its full) since it is in fact made entirely out of glass.

Just decided to do a mini review since this is my first teapot and it looks so pretty <3

Fraser Place @ Robertson Walk Singapore Experience

Our stay at Fraser Place, Robertson walk on March 2015. Went there for my birthday!
Fraser Place is a serviced apartment by the Singapore River. My family went down to walk by the river on the second morning.

Their website--> http://singapore-place.frasershospitality.com/en

Lobby

We were very early, so had to wait a while to be checked in.

Very clean lobby, had a 'high-class' feel.

There was a coffee-making machine in the lobby!

We stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment with our dog.

So spacious and comfortable!! The guy on the left with the ladder was doing maintenance on the aircon. (If I remember correctly)

This room had one living room, one kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and two balconies.
Living room had one balcony attached.

View of the front door from the living room.

Door to the kitchen. The empty space below that kitchen window was where we placed my dog's pee tray.

Fridge and microwave on the left when you first enter the kitchen.

The kitchen has almost everything! (basics) Utensils, pots, plates, appliances...

First bedroom included two beds. No attached bathroom and no balcony.

First bathroom. (Shower)

Second bedroom with attached bathroom and balcony.

Comes with a dresser and a tv too.

The attached bathroom. (bathtub)

A place to "chill" in the hotel. Has some stepping stones in a 'stream', a swing and some seating mats.

Lots of seating near the bbq pits!
Bbq pits. Each one has a sink next to the pit.
The fire starters they provided were not working well, took us a long time to get the fire going. We ended up cooking the prawns in the room first. Can't remember if you have to pay a fee for the usage of the bbq pit, or if its just for the utensils and fire starter.

Beef <3

The kids pool. Very small area. The adult pool was small too.

Breakfast buffet for weekdays is from 6.30am to 10.30am. Not much variety. Didn't take any photos since I didn't eat much.

We visited Marina Barrage since it was nearby. Here is Skye looking happy at the top of the barrage!
Follow her life at http://ourpetadventures.blogspot.sg/

Tired after the outing :D

We asked for an additional bed to be placed in the living room since we had 5 people in our family. Skye slept in the queen/king sized bed with me and my sister :)

This is just her lazing around during the day, I think she loved it here as much as we did!

Would definitely consider staying here again! The staff were really friendly and helpful!

Tip: ask for a higher floor :D

Trip to Kranji Marshes

Went to Kranji Marshes with my dad a few days ago. Took a taxi from our home and reached there at around 8.30AM. Quite empty on a weekday morning.

Things to take note:
- It gets really hot and the whole area has very little shade (if you are walking around).
- Only one bathroom (at the entrance)
- Make sure you have a bag to keep your rubbish
- Be QUIET, so you don't scare the wildlife away
- Be respectful, don't kill anything or litter

For more information, visit the NParks official site here!

Check out more photos here!

For the photos below, click on them to make them bigger. (easier to see)

Front Entrance
Carpark area

There is a vending machine for drinks in the corner

Bathrooms, very clean inside!
path to the actual marshes

The marshes are (unfortunately) right next to a huge construction site, so do expect lots of noise and smoke from that area.

There are small shelters like this around the area.

Bus timings

Do take a photo of the bus timings before setting out, so that you can keep track of when you need to start walking back. The pick up zone is not at the Kranji Marshes entrance, you need to walk to the resort nearby. (5 mins walk) Make sure you also have cash on hand to pay for the bus fare.

My 20th Birthday!

Tiramisu and Creme Brulee

Mom got me these two treats from AwfullyChocolate! <3 those!
Best thing is that you can keep those containers! :D

Creme Brulee

The Creme Brulee was really yummy, not as yellow as it looks in the photo. Really sweet and the caramelised layer on top is thin and 'crunchy'!
Love the taste!

Gifts from my family~

Dad bought this candle holder in Thailand! (He went there for business)

My cake from Awfully Chocolate <3
